US$0.00raised of $21,329.00 goal goal
My wife and I are both senior citizens. My mother-in-law has
Parkinson's Disease. My wife and I built an ADU on our property to take
care of her, as shown in the attached picture. When the County of Los
Angeles backed out of providing my wife and I with any support to do
this, despite a stated program to subsidize such housing:
County of Los Angeles Stated ADU Subsidy
my wife and I tried to raise money for the ADU construction through a GoFundMe Campaign:

We
raised nothing. Since then, there have been multiple electrical power
outages which have adversely affected my mother-in-law's health and
safety. My wife and I invested in solar power panels and we were hoping
to be able to take advantage of the SGIP program from the State of
California to help pay for the battery back up to the solar panels to
ensure continuous electrical power for my mother-in-law:
State of California SGIP Program
After
once again dutifully following the directions of program
administrators, my wife and I again were denied the support that we were
initially promised:
SGIP Program Falls Through
Therefore, my wife
and I are now seeking to raise the money that we need to install the
battery back-up system to ensure power continuity. The amount we need
was calculated based upon cost information: Solar Storage Cost Estimate
and the average daily consumption derived from our electrical bill:
Average Daily Electrical Consumption
This calculates to $750/kWh * 27.61kWh = $20,707.50.
When adding the 3% fee to be paid to GoFundMe, the total required is $21,329.
Any
additional money raised will be provided to SCE/CPUC so that they can
help pay for battery back up systems for other folks with Parkinson's
Disease.
The urgency of this is dictated by when the next power outage occurs and how long that power outage lasts.
