Campaign Story
Refugee and ethnic minority children in Hong Kong attend local schools subsidised by the government. These schools focus on the teaching of learning of Chinese and on the acquisition of knowledge.
International schools focus on the whole child, on higher order thinking skills and use English as the medium of instruction.
Three refugee and ethnic minority children - with the support of Christian Action - have successfully cleared all entrance exams and been offered 100% scholarships for one of Hong Kong's very best international schools.
This is an amazing opportunity for these children - two boys and one girl - aged 11 and 12.
The school has very generously waived all tuition fees as well as some other fees.
The families do, however, need to cover some costs. The most significant costs are:
- additional school fees
- Macbooks
These costs are one -off.
Minor (recurring) costs are
- uniform
- stationery
- meals
- transport.
We have calculated that HKD$100,000 can support these 3 well-deserving children to attend the school of their dreams.
Please consider donating any amount.
We will also gladly receive donations of used Macbooks.
