To everyone reading this,
I am a Palestinian refugee, born and raised in Dubai.
From a young age, one of my main goals has been to pursue my graduate studies in Canada. This experience would not only open opportunities that would be nearly impossible where I am now, but will take me one step further to my goals of working in politics and contributing towards social causes. I graduated in 2016 with honors and was awarded a scholarship for academic excellence throughout my undergraduate program.
As of February 2018, I have been offered admission into all 6 programs I applied to and decided to accept an offer at Simon Fraser University (SFU) in Vancouver, British Columbia for the Master's program in International Studies (Middle East Policy Concentration). While this is great news, my main concern has been about financing my education as my family is unable to support me, and all of my savings from work have gone into providing for them and paying bills. I was fortunate enough to receive two scholarships from SFU, one being a Graduate Fellowship and the other an International Entrance Scholarship received by nomination from the School of Graduate Studies at SFU.
That being said, the funding I have received is sufficient to get me through tuition and housing but I am still in need of minor financial assistance for any additional expenses I may encounter (such as insurance, books, mandatory activity fees, other living expenses etc.), especially since I will be alone in a new country. I'm so close to reaching my goal and need your help to be in a secure situation once I begin the program in September.
Your contributions, whether big or small, will make all the difference to me. I appreciate any help you can give as it will turn my dreams into reality.
