Refugee Child – URGENT Lesvos Appeal

Update posted by Toyah Manning On Nov 01, 2015

Ok so an update on some of the ways all the amazing money you have raised is being spent.

This update was posted on the Facebook group "Refugee Child"

1. I have funded Faye who is there right now. She is a lawyer and is going to be working with helping unaccompanied children legally. These children are especially vulnerable and in need of immediate help. The "help" afforded them by the authorities is nothing short of shocking often locked up in "medieval prisons" (read here http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/ref... )

Faye will prove to be most useful. Thank you Faye. Also Katina will carry on her work helping people on the night shift. Well done Katina. Please don't message either of these people. They are very busy and their job is not to co-ordinate. Thank you.

2. The camp at Moria is DREADFULLY in need of funds. The people who wait outside to be registered are left with NOTHING for days on end, in a muddy field. Mothers don't have shelter for their babies, anywhere to boil water to make baby bottles or just basic necessities like blankets or food. It is getting colder and children are really suffering outside in the cold. We are going to provide better facilities for these children stuck in "no mans land". I am organising this with someone on the ground now. Being an Island it takes time to get things there but we are doing our best.

Again thank you for all your support and please keep sharing. You ARE making a difference.

Thank you, Toyah, for the update and for al that you are doing. Please keep us posted, and we will share and share again so that people can’t ignore what is happening, and we’ll continue to give what we can. xx

People have donated so generously and some of the press have covered this story in Lesvos. Sky News, Huffington Post, Russia Today, to name a few.

Then to add to the misery this happened yesterday

I am heart broken. These people, these children NEED our help. Thank you so much if you have donated. Can I ask that you share this funding page high and low. We must do more.

Hi everyone

What can I say! Totally overwhelmed. As many of you will know, I've been involved with helping refugee children for a good few months now and it's pretty much become part of everything I do. Our group has already helped the children stuck in the camp at Calais. Now we can help the children at Lesvos too, who I hate to say, are in much worse conditions with a lot less help :( with thousands of children arriving all the time it's so vital that we do all we can over these coming cold, winter months. Your donation could literally mean life or death for a child suffering from hypothermia that needs a blanket. Just a simple blanket could save lives. Thank you all so much. Please keep caring and keep donating and keep sharing our appeal. Don't forget to join our Facebook group "Refugee Child" below. You're all amazing! Xx

Sending love to all those in need. I am so saddened to read what state these people are in and how little help they are receiving from our Governments. It’s so hard to bear the thought of innocent children suffering so terribly.

This donation is on behalf of our meditation group in Hertford England. We have raised this amount from the sale of Jennifer Percival's 'life planner' books which she kindly donated towards the cause and to our group . Good luck with all of your relentless and very hard work. There will be more money to follow from us xx

This comes from an anonymous donor from Borth on the coast of West Wales. We raised some money at Christmas which inspired her to give this fantastic donation. Our love, thoughts and support are with you all. Thanks for all the wonderful work you are doing.
