Refining exo-planetary search

This project aims to improve our methods to search for extra-solar planets.  

Have you ever asked whether there might be another habitable planet in the universe other than Earth? Search for so called exo-planets has surged in the past two decades. But better measurements is needed, ... and(!) better processing of the data obtained.  

At this latter stage the proposed project attempts to step in. My pledge is to further the on-going public research done by the astrophysical community by contributing another small puzzle stone to the search methodology. The contribution is directed to the scientific public.  

However much public good the contribution is (or attempts to be), receiving funding from public budgets is in (meanwhile rather fierce) competition. At this point, I would therefore like to ask >>YOU<<, for support.  

I cannot offer any specific reward other than the presentation of results.

Verfeinerung der Radialgeschwindigkeitsmethode

Die Suche nach extrasolaren Planeten startete zu Beginn
der neunziger Jahre im letzten Jahrhundert und hat in
den letzten Jahren um die 800 bestätigte Planeten hervorgebracht.
Dennoch ist die Detektion von erdähnlichen Planeten
(d.h. weniger massereichen, in größerer Umlaufbahn)
bisher schwierig. In den neuen Generationen von Spektrographen
soll die Genauigkeit noch einmal erhöht, daneben aber auch
die Verarbeitung der Meß-Daten verbessert werden.

Ich bin regelmäßig in der Brunsviga in der Karlstraße. Falls Sie das Projekt genauer
kennenlernen möchten, um eine Unterstützung erwägen, ist diese Örtlichkeit
eine gute Gelegenheit.
