Fund raising to rescue a tortured cat.

Currently in Marikina Veterinary Hospital ER

Rescued December 31, 2019, 9 PM

Broken/dislocated jaw, eyeballs fallen out of sockets, heavily bleeding

More details:

At around 9 PM on December 31, 2019, I got pulled out of my family’s New Year get-together to help out a friend in need. My neighbor found Uno, the white cat in the pictures, injured in a dark corner outside.

His left eye was completely gone, while his right eye was barely in its socket. He was struggling to breathe and weakly crying out for help. There was blood all around him, and with the fireworks going off outside, he was understandably under a lot of stress.

We rushed him to the nearest veterinary clinic open (Marikina Veterinary Hospital) to get him the medical attention he needs. Once we got there, he was weighed and put on an examination table. It was only then that we saw how bad his injuries really were.

His jaw was broken/dislocated, which is probably why he couldn’t breathe properly. His remaining eye could no longer be saved and would need to be removed. He also had a broken tail by the looks of it.

I asked the vet what could have happened for Uno to sustain these injuries. She said the injuries were caused by physical trauma. That someone probably took a blunt object and hit Uno with it. And that it took a great amount of force to do such damage to him.

I was horrified at the implications. Uno usually hangs out near our compound but he was always meek and mild-mannered. He never lashed out at anyone, as far as I’m aware, and he usually just stays out of people’s way. Someone did this to him on purpose.

The vet later told us that he needed to be confined for observation and to undergo some tests (CBC, X-ray, etc.) before they can operate on him. Uno will need the following procedures for treatment:

  1. Enucleation — removal of the eye that leaves the eye muscles and remaining orbital contents intact.
  2. Bone Pinning — operation to manipulate the fractured mandibular (jaw) to stabilize it.

As of now, the operation, excluding confinement and professional fee, amounts to more or less 35,000 php (I’ve included pictures of the hospital bills). The vet might recommend other forms of treatment as needed once they've properly assessed his condition.

Uno needs your help! We’re trying to raise money for his treatment and recovery. Any amount you can send us will be greatly appreciated.
