On September 27, 2019 about 10 am, a fire broke out on the roof of the hotel and retreat center we own and run in Laxman Jhula near Rishikesh, India, After the fire was put out we were partially functional as we had to deal with repairs and damages. This was during high season and at a time when our hotel was just starting to get footfalls at capacity and all rooms were fully booked however right after guests started to move out. We didn't lose hope and continued to pull along and picked up the pieces and tried to put things back together, however before we knew it the world was hit by the worst, a pandemic that locked us all away into isolation. This was early 2020, even when we could hardly keep the normal function of the hotel and the business going, we still used our space and resources to prepare healthy, nutritional food packages every single day and distributed it to the needy during the entire Lockdown.
The second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic caught India totally off-guard. As I write this, many are losing their lives, countless are struggling for beds in hospitals, myriads struggling for oxygen and there are untold stories of the deceased not finding a place in the crematoria. The collapsed healthcare system of the country is brutally exposed at the cost of millions of innocent lives.
It's been over a year of struggling and pulling along and as you all know that INDIA is facing a lethal second wave, we are helpless and are asking for help from our Friends, known and unknown, who would like to come forward and help us continue the relief work here on ground. We aim to provide food cooked and un-cooked, distribute sanitizers, masks and immunity boosting kits that include WHO Approved medicines, vitamins and immunity boosting concoctions.
Please donate any amount which will go towards continuing the relief work, supporting the misplaced locals and people affected due to Covid. Also this help will help us rebuild our business that has taken a major hit since these two unfortunate incidents that have haunted and devastated us in a way we knew not.
