Who We Are
Those of us who know Mai personally know how she would rather suffer in silence than inconvenience others by asking for help. That is why this campaign has been undertaken, by a small circle of Mai’s friends, who love her so very dearly. Mai has given so much to us and to the larger community over the years; we are now searching for ways to help create a universal donor’s circle so that we can begin to give back to her.
About a year ago, after being diagnosed with advanced Stage Three breast cancer in Montreal, Mai began receiving both alternative and conventional medical treatments. It is difficult enough to grapple with this diagnosis, and then endure the ups and downs of the prescribed treatments, but to go through it without a partner or money, that is so much harder. But Mai is a warrior: she loves life and has so much to offer. Even with her cancer, and facing serious financial constraints, Mai uses her time to console and guide other women, make her friends and family laugh, and even dance. In spite of the odds and the daunting statistics, she rallies her powerful instincts for creativity, survival, and spiritual wisdom to guide both herself and others on a healing path!

Pour les personnes ne connaissant pas Mai, il est important de savoir qu’elle est une personne qui préfère souffrir plutôt que de faire souffrir les autres. Il y a un peu plus d’un an, Mai a commencé des traitements conventionnels et alternatifs après avoir été diagnostiquée à Montréal, d’un cancer au sein, stade 3 avancé. C’est déjà énorme d’avoir le cancer, mais de passer à travers ce fléau sans partenaire ni argent est doublement difficile.
Mai est une guerrière. Elle aime la vie et la croque à pleines dents. Même avec d’immenses restrictions financières et la maladie, elle est capable de penser aux autres, de les aider, de les écouter, de les faire rire et même danser. Malgré les statistiques affligeantes et surtout avec son instinct pour la créativité, la survie et de l’aide spirituelle, elle est sur la voie de guérison. What We Need
On December 18th, a benefit and celebration party will take place in Montreal, to raise some of the much-needed money that Mai spends daily on her alternative health regime. Our immediate goal is to help Mai buy natural supplements for the next year. Our larger goal is to provide Mai with one-year of financial peace of mind so that she can concentrate her energy on healing and convalescing toward a full recovery. Mai’s family and friends will all be there, under one roof, to dance the night away and show Mai the support that she so well deserves.
But as life will have it, not everyone will be able to join us on this special night. This campaign has therefore been organized to allow those not physically present at the benefit to have the opportunity to contribute online.
Le 18 décembre, nous projetons une soirée bénéfice à Montréal pour faire une levée de fonds, afin d’aider Mai à payer ses traitements de suppléments naturels. De cette façon, elle pourra passer 2013 en convalescence pour arriver à une guérison complète.
Le but de cette fête est de pouvoir réunir la famille de Mai et ses amis sous le même toit pour danser la nuit longue, afin de lui offrir le soutien qu’elle mérite dans ce long et solitaire parcours.
La raison de cette campagne est d’offrir à ceux et celles qui ne pourront pas être présents à Montréal, l’occasion de participer financièrement.

It is unfair that anyone should have to deal with this disease; it is doubly unfair to face it amidst the ongoing material challenges of poverty. At the very least, everyone deserves to be able to receive the medical treatments that they desire. But for Mai, the costs have become prohibitive.
By contributing to this campaign, you are giving Mai the medical treatment that helps heal her body; Plain and simple, you are financing her continued survival and health. In turn, you are funding Mai’s ongoing research into alternative cancer treatments that she shares with others. The peace of mind that you provide to Mai is what you as a donor similarly receive. Mai could never ask for help because of who she is. So we are asking for her.
Contributions no matter how small are enormous gestures in Mai’s life.
