Imagine your home was destroyed and now everything is gone. Imagine all your friends are butchered in front of you and you're the only one to survive. Imagine people want to kill you because of your faith, but show 'mercy' by gang-raping you instead. Imagine you are arrested because of your beliefs and then forced to watch your father being tortured, simply to make you renounce your beliefs. Imagine you have to buy your daughter back from the terrorists who killed her mother.

These are realities for refugees cared for by the ICC.

The ICC provides safe housing and integration support to refugees in Athens, Greece. This project is not a refugee camp, but a small scale therapeutic farming facility that can be used for therapeutic purposes for some of our beneficiaries who have significant traumas.

Having fled their home country and having often lost everything and everyone they once held dear, many of these refugees just want to put back the pieces of their lives. They need somewhere quiet and peaceful to visit, to do this.

The book of Nehemiah in the Bible illustrates life in ruins... in need of repair and rebuilding. It describes the teamwork required, the effort and the struggle but also the hope, determination and faith that the ruins would be restored.

"I also told them about the gracious hand of my God upon me and what the king had said to me. They replied, 'Let us start rebuilding.' So they began this good work." (Nehemiah 2:18)

Together we can help them rebuild their walls

We need your help
: to buy and prepare a piece of land in rural Greece, to be used as a small farming retreat - a place of healing and restoration.

Our next goal will be to raise the funds needed to prepare the plot as a farming retreat facility, where beneficiaries will be able to visit and work on it together as a therapeutic experience, working with animals and cultivating small scale crops in beautiful surroundings, which are good for the soul.

It is important to make it as self-sufficient as possible, so that it can be used for years to come, with minimal running costs. We plan to do this by taking advantage of the large amount of sun in Greece to use solar power for heating water and generating electricity. We plan to utilise good irrigation techniques to water home-grown vegetables, fruit and livestock. The facility will be as low impact on the local community as possible and hope it will be a beautiful oasis that will be a blessing to the region.

Please pledge what you can and share with all your contact.

  • This sounds wonderful and we pray that it will soon be in the possession of International Christian Consulate to build the much needed retreat for those refugees in need of a safe place.
