rebuilding after hurricane Irma

Update posted by Leslie Becaud On Sep 29, 2017

Dear all,

Irma and Maria are long gone but running water has only be established in Cul-de-Sac as of yesterday. These 2 storms have turned life into "survival mode" for St. Martiner's. Getting a little bit of comfort back one step at the time that most of us take for granted is putting smiles on people's faces.

American Tennis Academy is still in process of cleaning up. The repairs to the tennis court fence will begin within the next 2 week and a scaffold will be brought onto the tennis courts to readjust the lamps.
Even though the structure has been damaged my Dad put up one tennis net and has started to pass on the tennis message to the group of friends helping him with the clean up. He lives for the passion of tennis and I admire this about him.

Thank you for contributing to my campaign.

Warmly,

Leslie

Dear all,

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to my campaign.

My Dad has progressed well in cleaning up the premises. He cleaned up the area of the snack bar and already put up one tennis net so that the members of the club can come in and play. Since the fence and fence posts are down it's more of a challenge to keep the ball in play!

Tomorrow he will take the net down again and continue preparing for Maria. Let's hope for the best!
I feel sorry that my Dad has to go through this but I know that he is a very strong person who never gives up.

Warmly

Leslie

Dear all,

Slowly, people in St. Martin are being given access to the things in life that many take for granted. My Dad has had power go on and off which shows how fragile the island still is. Super U grocery store has opened its doors again but only for a limited amount of items per person. The roads are being cleaned up and everyone is busy with cleaning up their yards, houses and businesses. I even got to speak to my Dad on the phone yesterday for a short period of time before it cut off due to the spotty signal. Only a few days ago he still had to drive to Marigot every time he wanted to speak to us since 3G wasn't working at all in Cul-de-Sac.

He is busy cleaning up the debris that landed on the tennis courts such as roofs, wood, branches and plastic because of Irma's unimaginable strength. Fortunately he has good friends who are lending a helping hand in need.

I'm also adding some new pictures so you can see the progress.

Thank you very much for supporting my campaign.

Love,

Leslie
