Campaign Story
A family legacy and home turned to Ashes over night.... A complex political issue here in South Africa, yet an innocent couple have been caught in the path of destruction.
Ingrid and Gary, my parents, are fighting to stay positive and rebuild their home from the ground up, they need our help. If you know my beautiful parents, you immediately think of humility and gentleness. They have spent 50+ years building a home, raising children, living in faith and earning an honest living. They have touched many lives thus far and I know there are soo many people that know them and love them and would want to help them feel secure again. Please help me help them!
The background of this humble plea - Looters stormed the storage facility on Sunday night during violent protests here in South Africa, stealing from units and setting lots alight, simply to destroy them. Senseless and tragic. My parents are in between moves and had their belongings in storage. The building has been condemned and they have lost everything from their unit. Whatever wasn't looted, was burned. Furniture, sentiments, photos, appliances, things from parents/grandparents.... If you think of a home, look around, yep it's all gone. It is so unjust and horrific.
Even though this is the most tragic event in their lives thus far they remain hopeful. I am reaching out and asking for you to help us rebuild from the Ashes. Memories are Handprints in the heart, and can never be taken from them/from us but everyone deserves a safe place to call home.
Let's help them rebuild a place to call home!
