Campaign Story
Dear Friends, fellow travelers, former guests of Zizi Homestay,
It is with great sadness we would like to inform you that Zizi House and Homestay located in Muong Hoa village, Sapa, has been totally destroyed during an accidental fire which started from a neighbor house. Though they are emotionally very affected by this tragedy, Zizi, her husband and 2 kids are safe. But they lost everything (food, furniture, clothes, savings kept in the house as per the traditional culture…) from this house that they built from scratch by themselves.
The total loss is estimated to be around VND 1.7bil ($73,380). This home was also a Homestay and their main sources of income as well as a small English center with volunteer teachers for Hmong kids who will mostly work in the hospitality industry as tour guide.
For those who had a chance to come, whether you passed by during a few hours or you stayed there for a few days/ months, I am sure you all enjoyed the unique warm atmosphere, the peacefulness of the place, the immersion in the Hmong life, playing with kids and animals, the breathtaking rice field and mountains view, etc...
In this difficult time, we seek for your generosity to help us to rebuild Zizi Homestay. The updated estimated cost (September 7) is $15,775 and will cover the wood frame foe the house ( from an existing house which will be sold to Zizi), the building (roof,ceilimg, floor, cement...) and the furniture( beds, chairs, tables, gas stove, fridge...)
The estimation time to rebuild the house is around 3 months and will start within September Thank you in advance for your support and we hope to see you again soon,

Amy and I were so saddened to see this happen, but we are very thankful that you and your family are safe. We had such a wonderful time when we stayed at your house in April 2019. You and your family were so warm and welcoming and we cannot wait to get back to your village. We hope everything goes well with the new house build!
