Rebuild School for African Girls Living in Poverty

WELCOME

Good day! We are Nina Sackprasith, Founder of VIVRE CO and Emmanuel Mzembe, Operations Director of BIKEMA ACADEMIC CENTRE. We have partnered together to improve the lives of young African girls living in poverty through education.

Our vision is to raise a purpose driven generation equipped with leadership skills. To bring young minds to a point where they pursue achieving their purpose with every available facility, opportunities or means made available to them.

BIKEMA ACADEMIC CENTRE provides schooling for young girls in Malawi, Africa. However the school is in dire condition with insufficient resources and facilities to provide a suitable learning environment for students. We need your help to raise money to repair the school building and provide new resources!

With your help, donated funds will go towards rebuilding and repairing the Bikema Academic Centre school and resources. Without proper learning resources and facilities, student attendance and levels of education decrease. The funds donated will go towards the following: Paint, doors, bricks, stationary, office furniture, fixing water tap, labor hire, windows, cement, books, tools.

ABOUT THE SCHOOL

BIKEMA ACADEMIC CENTRE is located in Malawi, Africa. The school provides access to quality education to students from rural places with very poor family background. It focuses on providing young girls equal access to primary and secondary education. The school begun in April 2015, with 20 students but have no enrolled over 200 students. Outside of the regular school curriculum, the school offers entrepreneurship, financing, servant leadership and coding skills to empower girls to stay out of early child marriage and poverty.

WHY?

The core values that we stand for are derived from the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals. The Goals are a universal call to action to improve the world and all humankind through targeting holistic global and social issues. We aim to combat the the following below.

GOAL 1: NO POVERTY
End poverty in all its forms everywhere

Poverty is more than the lack of income and resources to ensure a sustainable livelihood. Its manifestations include hunger and malnutrition, limited access to education and other basic services, social discrimination and exclusion as well as the lack of participation in decision-making.

- Malawi is one of the poorest countries in the world
- 50.7% of the population live below the poverty line
- 25% of the population live in extreme poverty
- Approx 12 million live on less than $1.25 a day

GOAL 4: QUALITY EDUCATION
Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote
lifelong learning opportunities for all

The reasons for lack of quality education are due to lack of adequately trained teachers, poor conditions of schools and equity issues related to opportunities provided to rural children. For quality education to be provided to the children of impoverished families, investment is needed in educational scholarships, teacher training workshops, school building and improvement of water and electricity access to schools.

- Only 35% of children in Malawi complete primary school
- Only 8% of 4.6 million students complete secondary school

GOAL 5: GENDER QUALITY
Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls

Providing women and girls with equal access to education, health care, decent work, and representation in political and economic decision-making processes will fuel sustainable economies and benefit societies and humanity at large. The eradication of harmful practices targeted at women is crucial to ending the gender-based discrimination prevalent in many countries around the world

- Malawi has one of the highest child marriage rates in the world with
1 in 2 girls being married before the age of 18.

$8000 STRETCH GOAL

An amount of $8000 can put 200 young girls into school and provide much needed education! This helps pay off their private education tuition fees. This reduces their likelihood of staying in early child marriage and poverty. Outside of the regular school curriculum, we support programs that offer entrepreneurship, financing, servant leadership and coding skills. By providing access to quality education, learning resources and extra curricular entrepreneurial programs, we empower young African girls to become future leaders and create change in their communities.
