Real London is a joint campaign by two youth organisations, The Volunteer Police Cadets and YoungStars. The VPC are a youth organisation set up by the Metropolitan Police Service where young people are given the opportunity to work alongside their local police force and support the Met at high profile events. The VPC have worked at events that include the 2012 London Olympic Games and The Queens Diamond Jubilee celebrations. YoungStars on the other hand are a youth led organisation that have been campaigning against youth violence since 2012 and have won a number of awards for their work. Together, under the banner of Real London, the two promote peace and youth empowerment and have helped organise conferences including Momentum worlds 2014 Youth Against Extremism conference in Greece. Our aim now is to continue working together as Real London on projects that help to not only promote peace and youth empowerment, but also projects that help young people who have been affected by youth violence. In order for us to do so, 12 of us, all between the ages of 18-25 have decided to take on the ultimate challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro with the aim of raising both awareness and funds for future projects.
