Little Heroes Playground will be Pulaski County?s very first universally accessible playground to be built in Roubidoux Park, downtown Waynesville.

Little Heroes 1This Unlimited Playground will be themed to honor all of those brave men and women who dedicate their lives to preserving our freedoms. Equipment will include custom pieces representing each of our armed forces and designed so ALL children and families, including our Veterans, can play side by side.

50% of all funds raised will be donated to the City of Waynesville Parks and Recreation Service for the building of the "Little Hero Playground" giving special needs children the chance to enjoy the park ,an opportunity they have never had here. 50% will go to benefit community programming and updating technology and geonioalogical services at Waynesville Public Library.

About our mission at PCLD and the mission of Libraries all across the United States:

We are passionate about providing access to information, literature, and lifelong learning which have always been at the heart of the American library movement. This is true now more than ever, and citizens must use their voices to ensure our library legacy remains viable and fully funded.

Libraries are places of information. When most people think "library" they think books. And while that is certainly true, these days books take different shapes, such as e-books and audio books. More than just books, libraries are places of information, offering people free access to a wealth of information that they often can't find elsewhere, whether online, in print or in person. Whether they're looking for DVDs or the latest best-seller; health or business information found on internet databases not accessible at home, or going for story times and community programming, the library is a center of community for millions of people.

To participate in the 2015 Read Walk Run 5K and show your support for the "Little Heroes Playground" and Waynesville Library a branch of the Pulaski County Library District. A small donation is required of $5 per individual sign up or $20 signs up the whole family. The race is on Saturday September 5, 2015 beginning at 9:00am at the Waynesville Library community room and ending at 12:00pm at the Waynesville City Roubidoux Park. Come dressed up as your favorite super hero for a day fun!! Read, walk or run like the hero you are. After you make your donation you will also need to come in and register at the library you will receive a bib number the day of the race and sign a waiver. If you feel walking or running 3.1 miles is to far or are unable to, don't worry you can still help and join in the fun by reading at the library or city park for the time it would take to walk or run that far approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour. Prizes for winners to be announced we are working with local businesses in the area to collect donations and promotional items. If you would like to donate prizes or incentives in exchange for vendor space at the Library the day of the event or would like more information and/or registration details contact the library at 573-774-2965.
