REACHING DREAMS AGAINST THE ODDS

My name is Keabetswe Motaung, I'm in my mid 20's and reside in Mapetla, Soweto. I'm currently pursuing a BA (with Law) through the University of Witswatersrand. My lifelong dream has always been to become an advocate and eventually an arbiter of the law, beyond the financial security and professional status, I believe that through this degree and career path I can alleviate social injustices that most South Africans face ,particularly people of color, because that is where crime and social ills are most prevalent and this degree can equip me with skills and knowledge necessary to deal with these issues legally and systematically. Acquiring this degree would not only be a win for me or my family only but I believe it can be used to mobilise the minds of my community at large, I have been born into a community where tertiary education is perceived as a privilege because most members of the community never make it into university or pass grade 12 and I strongly believe that the cause of this is that we don't have enough resources or access to information and moreover there are not many role models to draw inspiration from. So I believe that if I defy the odds I can restore the hope of the older generation and mould the minds of the generations to follow, but in order for me to achieve this dream I need all the financial help I can get, so I humbly plead with those of you who can to make a contribution, no matter how small the effects will surely be life-long and greatly appreciated
