Campaign Story
I met Raya this summer when I was volunteering for Happy Caravan in Thermoplaye Refugee Camp. Rayas story made an impact on me that will last the rest of my existence. Raya and her family have a dream to one day immigrate to Canada. I didn't have the resources to help her all on my own so I just asked for help from my dear friend Sarah Green. But we still need your help.
This article is part of the multimedia feature website, The Stride Of Her Shoes, which documents the journeys of two young women, Raya and Deyana. Both are Syrian refugees actively pursuing safety and a better life. While their identities and experiences differ greatly from one another, taken together, their stories illustrate the infinite potential of a hopeful woman and the limitless stride of her shoes.
Currently to become a private sponsor we will need $35,000 (to put this in perspective- we need 700 people to donate $50) before the process can begin. This is all resettlement costs for the size of the Kamal family to Canada. More information can be found in the link below, and I am happy to answer any questions. This is not a short process. This is only the beginning. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for listening.
