Campaign Story
My name is Sophany, I was a Registered Nurse in Canada. I live in Cambodia, my native country, where I organize tourist activities.
This campaign is to support the medical expenses of Ratha.
Ratha needs immediate support to benefit from appropriate care and to pay for her medical expenses.
Ratha is usually a generous and dynamic woman. She is a mother to me. She has been suffering for some months now from the consequences of a diagnosed hepatitis C infection. Her children are unemployed for more than a year (COVID). The family's savings have been used for medical expenses and already paid more than 2000 US dollars.
Her health has deteriorated over the last few days. She has severe ascites, severe oedema and jaundice. She is very tired, dyspneic and can no longer mobilise.
Ratha is currently hospitalized. I am touched and shocked to see the conditions in which people are treated in a public hospital.
For example, when a doctor prescribes a medicine, the family has to buy it at the pharmacy and than bring the treatment to the hospital. This means that if the family cannot afford to buy it, no treatment will be given. In addition, hospital fees must be paid every day. Otherwise, patients are kicked out.
It should also be pointed out that in relation to the standard of living, the cost of health care is expensive for the population.
The patient's family also has to do all nursing care (washing, mobilization, preparing and bringing meals, etc.). This requires a 24/24 presence of the family and generates additional costs.
This poor perspective pushes us to put measures in place to enable Ratha to get through this stage and to offer her the care she needs.
We appreciate any donations you can make and THANK YOU for your generosity.
