Rate Your Flat – Worldwide tenants reviewing community

The idea

Wouldn't it be great to get all the details about a house you are about to rent, its history, location, quality, and even its landlord?
A few months ago I started RateYourFlat, the first worldwide website for tentants to review the house they are living in.The idea started from two assumption: the financial crisis in the late 2000s - the effects of which we are still experiencing - has not only incremented the number of people who cannot buy a house anymore and are forced to rent, but also a whole new generation of workers who need to move from their country for work reasons. Being one of them myself, it was quite shocking to realize that the renting business is one of the few in which the customer has not easy access to the "product" history and other people reviews; it would be quite useful to know the overall quaity of a house - virtues and vices, many of which come out only after a few months - before signing a contract, and it would be also great to leave track of your experience for the next "customer".
If this new philosophy could be applied worldwide, we could actuallly change the renting market's rules, and improve it for landlords and tenants: virtuous people from both sides would benefit from it.

How it works

These are the reasons that made me create www.rateyourflat.com. The website, still on its beta but fully functional form, allows the users to review their houses from anywhere in the world judging various aspects, from location to quality of living, to relationship with the landlord. A reason for these marks has to be given in the extensive review, which is strictly regulated by the website privacy policy and terms of use. Each review is manually checked for any violation of these terms. The landlord has the right to reply to each one of the reviews on his property.

Why should you fund it

RateYourFlat is a great chance for the community to share knowledge on an important subject as housing; the service offered would be absolutely free and potentially game-changing. In turn, I have to ask the community an inital support in terms of participation. Most of it would be involvement in writing reviews, but I am also asking for your initial financial support for a series of goals:

• Expand it with a new section where landlords can spontaneously publish their house with photos and all the details, including its status - "for rent", "rented until ../../.." , "sold" . A great reference for people planning to move from anywhere to anywhere.
• Advertise it. Being a worldwide site, it is not easy to offer a "reward" to people who write reviews, except the awareness that they are making someone else's life a little easier. Apparently, this is not enough, so I'd need funds for some web marketing. After reaching the critical mass, the website should sustain itself through donations or - in the worst case - advertisement. 
• Transfer the website on a dedicated server, and get a SSL certificate for data security
