£969.00Donated So Far
On Sunday 3rd October I will be, touch wood, running the London Marathon!
Typically I would fundraise for a women’s refuge, and although DV cases have increased over the past year, I’ve been highly conscious of the impacts of the pandemic on an international scale and more recently, the escalating situation in Afghanistan.
Covid-19 has exacerbated health and economic inequalities across the world. As I am sure you are aware, cuts to foreign aid combined with grossly negligent governments have been detrimental to the lives of millions of vulnerable people.
As such, the first charity I have chosen to fundraise for is the International Rescue Committee who are currently helping innocent people whose lives are at risk in Afghanistan to receive safety, clean water and sanitation https://www.rescue-uk.org/article/crisis-afghanist.... The situation there is beyond heart-breaking and I cannot think of a more pressing cause.
Secondly, Iran is facing an unprecedented humanitarian crisis due to shortages in the Covid-19 vaccine. This has led to a person dying from Covid-19 every two minutes. After a good deal of research, I have decided to allocate 50% of donations to a charity called Hamdam http://en.hamdam.org/Default.aspx. They support hundreds of young girls in Iran who have long term health conditions and disabilities which makes them clinically vulnerable, and who otherwise could not afford the health and social care which they need.
As Justgiving etc only permit fundraising for UK charities, I am doing this independently using Go Get Funding. Once I close the page, I will personally divide and transfer all your donations to IRC and Hamdam, 50% - 50% respectively.
If you have any qus about how I will be doing this or regarding any of the above, please do not hesitate to ask.
Thank you for taking the time to read my page. Now please wish me luck and send me a buck… or a few!
