Campaign Story
For our Loving Mother.
For our Loving Mother.
My name is Gerard E. Melgar, and I am writing to ask for financial help towards the medical expenses of my mother Raquel, who is undergoing cancer treatment. We’ve tried our best to fulfill the expenses on our own, but since the pandemic, both my parents have lost their jobs. My Dad, Sab, Nadine and I want is to see Mom healthy and to live a long and happy life. This journey has been challenging for our family, but we are hopeful that my Mom will recover and we can keep our family whole and together.
In November 2019, my mother was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer. She underwent many sessions of chemotherapy, yet in the months after her chemo, we sought out a second opinion because we didn’t feel she was getting the support and assistance she needed. Her recent diagnosis has been elevated to Stage 4 but we are positive and hopeful that she will survive.
My mother started a new treatment called Trastuzumab and oral chemotherapy with a new medical team. The new treatment is very expensive and with all the other medications, we don’t have the funds for her to continue. Our resources are running low and though our whole family is supporting her, it is not enough.
Raquel is a professional Interior Designer, but had to stop working to focus on her treatment. My dad has resorted to food vending and delivery since the pandemic, and I have stopped my own studies to work. However, this is not enough to pay the rent, bills, groceries, etc., much less the cancer treatment. We have been asking for financial assistance from those close to us, and though they have given us what they can, we still do not have enough to pay for everything.
All we wish is to complete my Mom’s treatment and give her back her life. We love our mom so much and don’t want to lose her.
We appreciate every donation no matter how small and will provide proof of medical expenses if needed. Please include us in your prayers and give us the strength and encouragement to keep on fighting. Thank you so much, God bless.
