Hey there, I'm Randon Pierson.

Two months ago I broke my neck with a double fracture to my C1 vertebra and a break on my T1 vertebra in a life threatening rugby injury. The severe and unexpected injury ended me up in the emergency room on October 16th 2021 an ambulance ride to an emergency room at Memorial Herman Hospital, with another visit a week later on October 23rd 2021 to the Memorial Herman ER after the left side of my body was experiencing tingling and numbness.

I am very thankful as my only treatment for this life threatening injury has been to wear a neck brace for at least 3 months, and I've been able to live life relatively normally lately. I am back at work as a high school biology teacher, and I've gotten opportunities to pick up extra work on Saturdays and Tuesdays after school to get extra money to help pay off the medical debt.

As thankful as I am to be alive after this injury, I've been left with quite a bit of medical debt due to this injury. The overall costs of my two ER visits plus an ambulance ride amounted to almost $60,000, but after my insurance I only owe my out of pocket maximum, a dense $7,900 (gotta love teacher benefits).

I am hoping to raise up to $5000 to help with my medical bills as this summer I purchased a small house as a single, 23 year old first year teacher (first time home buying teachers get great deals on loans~) starting night classes for a masters degree next semester in addition to keeping my position as a teacher. I've not been given any money for any of my expenses such as purchasing a house or starting grad school. I have found myself in a financial predicament where I am in over my head with house payments/repairs, car payments, graduate school, and now $7,900 worth of medical debt that are not offering me very good payment plans. Frankly, I'm grasping at straws at this point.

I feel like I've always done what is right, going to school, volunteering, gaining experience, purchasing property, furthering my education, playing sports to keep active etc, but now even with that I cannot catch my breath. It is with this in mind that I come humbly to ask for the kindness of friends, family, and strangers from the internet that if they have any extra money to give, that you guys might consider helping me tackle some of the hardships I've come by- no amount will go unappreciated. If you are unable to give anything, it would be great if you might consider sharing this posting with others.

I'll be posting updates with proof of any money I may receive going towards paying off the medical debt that I've been given. If you've read this far, thank you for your time

Explanation of pictures: Pics of me in the hospital, a picture of my classroom :), a long screenshot of everything that I have to pay (if added up the sum comes out to $7,900), a screenshot showing that myout of pocket maximum has been reached, and a picture of my dog Dexter (mostly white) with my foster dog Bertram (mostly brown).
