Ramadan, for many of us, is a few hours of feeling the pangs of hunger, but for many children and adults around Nigeria – hunger is a daily fact of life.

The auspicious month of Ramadan is one that is filled with plenty of joy, blessing, and reward. As one of the most significant periods in the Islamic calendar, it shows us the inherent importance of helping our brothers and sisters all over the world.

During the month of Ramadan, charity support increases, as our teams continue to work closely with communities in need, helping to provide Iftaar, Suhoor, and healthcare support to families.

We believe that every child has the right to a happy, have a stable upbringing and we will go above and beyond to improve the lives of thousands of orphans, widows, and the less privileged.

Do you know that every day children die needlessly, just because they are poor and have no one to turn to?

We can’t begin to tell you what a desperate situation some of these children are in. It breaks our heart to see orphans as young as 10, having to act as parents to their brothers and sisters in the blessed month of Ramadan. Many live in filthy conditions and scavenge for food on rubbish tips to survive.

Shamim is one example of the woman we have helped in 2021 through our Qurbani Project, a widow with four children from a small village in Zamfara.

Our Work

Over the past two years, we have been providing food items and small financial support to needy Muslim families during the holy month of Ramadan. With support from generous donors like you, we have been able to serve over 1,000 needy families, so far in Nigeria.

Why should you donate?

Charity is a key part of Ramadan and is obligatory to all financially able Muslims, and feeding the poor and the needy is an act that draws us close to Allah SWT. We earn His forgiveness, mercy, and blessings through this act of charity.

Our beloved Prophet PBUH said;

"Whoever gives food to a fasting person with which to break his fast will have a reward equal to his, without it detracting in the slightest from the reward of the fasting person" [Al-Tirmidhi]

This year we want to achieve even more; feed more hungry families, provide more Eid gifts for orphans, and help more people in need to enjoy a joyous Ramadan.

Our work and appeals do not come to an end with the sighting of the moon. With your support, we can improve lives on a daily basis. Through our projects, Humanity and Community Development Foundation is a strong supporter of Muslim community development through charity and education, healthcare, practical skills training as a means to help the people earn a living.
