My name is Can Oral, currently a freshman at an American high school in Istanbul, Turkey. Since the early years of primary school, Mathematics has been an area of interest I've always wanted to further pursue. I've always felt that a void deep inside was always filled when I was working in a Math class or when I was thinking about a concept I've recently learned. Math has drastically changed how I view events in my life as it continuously taught me to look for a solution rather than hindering one.
With my recent admittance to Stanford Summer Institutes Cryptology program, I'm more than delighted to be given the chance to pursue my passion at a college I've always dreamed of. I couldn't be more excited to not only spend this summer at Stanford, a college that has been the reason for my determination to continue no matter what happens, but also to pursue something I dearly love. The combination of two things I care the most in my life has now formed a concrete layer and is waiting for me to show myself and be an active participant. However, the tuition cost required for me to join such an amazing and privileged program would put an enormous hardship on my end mainly because of the recent inflation in Turkey and the ultra-elevated exchange rate between USD and TRY.
I've asked the admissions committee to postpone the payment deadlines so that I can put through such fundraising projects like this one to cover my tuition. It's also such an honor to see this request being granted by Stanford Pre-Collegiate Admissions team. That's why I welcome any and all contributors to make a contribution—regardless of the amount—so that I can get a little closer to pursuing my passions and forming the person I want to be in the future. I believe I would be a great addition to Stanford Summer Institutes' Cryptology team this year by increasing the diversity of the participant pool as an international student from an underrepresented minority group. I will be hereinafter attaching my acceptance letter so that the donators can check. Help me become the person I want to be; thus, helping me to create a better world for everyone, mostly those who will, in shape or form, in my position in the future.
P.S. Stanford Summer Institutes is a three-week residential program at Stanford's campus. I will be flying from Turkey to San Fransisco on July 15 if I am able to receive the funds before this campaign's deadline.
