Campaign Story
Running a Half Marathon for The Luena Foundation...
On Sunday 11th March 2018, the world lost a gorgeous, bubbly, 11 year old girl called Luena. Luena suffered a large brain hemorrhage which caused her to be in a coma for 8 days, before passing away sadly, surrounded by her family. Luena touched so many people and was such a centre of her community, showed by the more than a thousand people that attended her funeral. My family and I flew out to Spain to support Elias and Estrella through a tough time. In the small village where Luena lived, everyone has rallied round to support her family immensely- the huge support system they have was incredible and heart-warming to see. Sometimes we don't realise what and who we have around us until we are in our time of need.
A family in the village where she was growing up have started up a foundation in her name, The Luena Foundation. A foundation that aims to carry Luena’s smile all around the world to underprivileged children in Angola, Spain and several countries in Latin America, including those supported in Asociació Creamos, an orphanage in Bolivia.
They have already raised thousands, but why stop now? I have decided to take part in the Gloucestershire half marathon in August this year, in order to fundraise money for this amazing foundation. Anyone that knows me will know that this is a huge challenge for me, as I’m not the sportiest person on the planet, but I want a challenge, something that will help The Luena Foundation and everything it is supporting.
Any support possible would be amazing xx
