I am Nem Lauresta, 23 years old from Novaliches, Quezon City. I was diagnosed with Lymphoma Cancer on February 25, 2020 under care of Doctor Roberto Acuña at Bernardino General Hospital. Hence I will be needing financial support for my full recovery.
After I was diagnosed, I was referred to Dr. Audie Cuntapay, Internal Medicine and Oncologist in Commonwealth Medical Center for my treatment. According to him there are 2 types of Lymphoma, Hodgkin and Non-hodgkin and it was not clearly stated in my biopsy results. With that, I need to undergo several diagnostic and laboratory tests for him to know the kind of treatment I need.
Lymphoma is cancer that begins in infection-fighting cells of the immune system, called lymphocytes. These cells are in the lymph nodes, spleen, thymus, bone marrow, and other parts of the body. When you have lymphoma, lymphocytes change and grow out of control. My body is starting to feel the symptoms of this chronic disease. My immune system is getting weaker, I'm having flu-like symptoms — night sweats, fatigue and persistent back pain, and I also have rushes on different parts of my body.
We went to National Kidney and Transplant Institute, as our Oncologist recommended, to get the quotation of the tests needed. For laboratory tests, the gross amount is 17,000 Pesos and for the surveilance PET Scan, we need a total of 45,561 Pesos. Aside from that, there are medicines that I also need to take for maintenance starting today until the end of the treatment.
My mother was previously diagnosed with thyroid cancer last year and my father is the only bread winner in our family. He was only a company driver which salary ranges from 17 to 18,000 pesos per month. My mother is already cleared with her cancer, however we still need to buy her medicines for her maintenance, as well as her laboratory test every quarter of the year. My younger sister that is currently in Grade 12 at St. Claire College in Caloocan City is about to enter college this year and I know that it will be very hard for my father to cover all the expenses specially we still have pending loans to pay due to my Mothers recent medical condition.
I need to accept the fact that I'm no longer fit to work and I hate the fact that I can no longer help my father in our daily expenses. But the most heartbreaking part is that I can no longer attend church duty as a choir member to sing praises to God.
I've been a Choir member for almost a year already and because of my condition, I need to rest until I become cleared with cancer. I supposed to enter the School for Ministers this April as well to preach God's words but this trial came to my life. All I prayed was to dedicate my whole life in serving God and with your kind help I can be able to surpass these trials and gain hope to continue.
We our knocking to your kind hearts to ask for help. With your generous support, I will be able to continue my medication and attain my full recovery. With your help I may continue to fight this cancer and fight for life.
