Raising Funds for the Huni Kuî People in The Amazon to preserve and protect our culture

Hello, I am The director and founder of the Huwa Karu Yuxibu Center.

I am from the state of Acre da Amazônia. I am an activist representing my people, we work for the preservation of the forest, of nature, as well as lives and wellbeing for humans. Our project is to strengthen the cultural identity of the Huni Kui people, bringing our true origin to our people, our identity, customs and practices.

We are a people that cannot really forget our traditional customs. We work with paintings, crafts, singing, therapeutic work with sacred medicines, which is the healing of spirit, thought and matter and reconnecting with mother nature, a reconnection that happens with a heart awakening universal love, loving all living beings that live on this planet earth. We do not stop studying every day, we are studying in this school of earth, so sacred in this universe, so big, so wonderful and so colorfu. I consider myself as a messenger of peace, a messenger of love. I believe that the healing of humanity is in love and we have to practice that true and pure love that comes from the heart, with its ability to really strengthen the heart for those who need humanity.

All of us human beings really need to forget the hurt and remember the love. Love is very important. So that's my message, a lot of gratitude. Breve Biografia do Coordenador

Mapu Huni Kuî, nasceu em 13 de dezembro1988, brasileiro, nativo originário da Terra Indígena (TI) Kaxinawa Ashaninka do Rio Breu, que fica entre os municípios de Marechal Thaumaturgo e Jordão, na fronteira com o Peru. Músico, Líder Espiritual e Cacique desde 2009 colocando em prática os ensinamentos adquiridos com o seu avô. É um representante político e xamânico do povo Huni Kuî localizado no Acre e Peru. Conhecido internacionalmente pela defesa e preservação ambiental, fortalecimento da identidade cultural do seu povo e trabalho com as medicinas sagradas.

Resumo do Projeto

O Projeto Social do Centro Huwã Karu Yuxibu, foi fundado em agosto de 2015, sem fins lucrativos e tem como principal objetivo Fortalecer a Identidade Cultural do Povo Huni Kuî. Entre as principais atividades destacam-se a conservação do dialeto Hãtxa Kuî, kenes, danças, músicas, rezos, artesanatos, preservação ambiental e segurança alimentar. O público alvo são famílias nativas que encontram-se em vulnerabilidade social e estudantes que se deslocam de suas aldeias para cursar Universidades, Faculdades e Cursos técnicos profissionalizantes na capital Rio Branco – Acre na Amazônia Ocidental Brasileira. O projeto é coordenado pelo Líder Espiritual e Cacique Mapu Huni Kuí e conta com uma equipe técnica administrativa, parceiros, apoiadores e voluntários. O Projeto supracitado é realizado em uma área privativa adquirida por intermédio de Mapu Huni Kuî através de doações, trabalhos espirituais, conscientização ambiental e luta pelos povos nativos. O projeto atualmente auxilia 33 famílias nativas que estão a margem da sociedade e residem na capital Acreana.

Justificativa para criação do Centro Huwã Karu Yuxibu

No Acre, a Terra Indígena (TI) Kaxinawá Ashaninka do Rio Breu, com 31.277 hectares, está localizada entre os municípios de Marechal Thaumaturgo e Jordão, na fronteira com o Peru. De acordo como o estudo da organização Instituto Socioambiental (ISA), os índios Huni Kuin, também conhecidos como Kaxinawá, habitam a fronteira brasileira-peruana na Amazônia ocidental. No Brasil, eles somam mais 7.535 pessoas e vivem no Acre e sul do Amazonas, tendo as aldeias nas regiões do Alto Juruá e Purus e no Vale do Javari. Os Huni Kuin pertencem ao tronco linguístico Pano. Os grupos Pano designados como nawa formam um subgrupo desta família por terem línguas e culturas muito próximas e por terem sido vizinhos durante um longo tempo. Cada um deles se autodenomina huni kuin, homens verdadeiros”, diz a pesquisa. Devido a localização demográfica da TI, o que dificulta o acesso a educação, recursos sanitários, saúde, mudanças climáticas, desmatamento, secas dos rios e diversos fatores que impossibilitam a caça, pesca e plantio muitos nativos se deslocam, por muitas vezes abandonam sua terra em meio a floresta para ir a cidade em busca de melhoria e acesso a recursos que atendam suas necessidades. Nesta busca por mudança e atendimentos de suas emergências, muitos encontram um cenário diferente quando chegam a cidade no qual ficando a margem da sociedade. Situação estas que os colocam suscetíveis a preconceitos, sem acesso a alimentos, educação, saúde e chegam ao estado de extrema pobreza/ miséria. Pela iniciativa de virem a cidade com o anseio de melhorar suas condições de sobrevivência e suprir suas necessidades, tornam-se na ótica das esferas governamentais índios desaldeados, e não devem ser assistidos pelas politicas públicas direcionadas a indígenas por não estarem na floresta. Com isso ficam sem ser atendidos pelo sistema, e assim muitos se alocam nas periferias da cidade, pedem dinheiro na rua para manter suas necessidades básicas, tornam-se as vezes mão de obra barata ou escrava, e quando não conseguem emprego alguns entram no mundo do crime, prostituição e entorpecentes, além de adquirir doenças pelos contatos com os Nawas. Com tantas dificuldades enfrentadas na cidade e não conseguir voltar para aldeia, com o passar do tempo perdem seu dialeto, hábitos tradicionais e por serem muitas vezes marginalizados e sofrer preconceitos por serem nativos, deixam toda a grandeza de sua cultura. Muitos jovens estão perdendo sua identidade, perspectivas de melhoria e consciência pela luta da resistência e existência de seu povo. Por esses motivos, dentre outros o Centro Huwã Karu Yuxibu fundando em agosto de 2015 por Cacique e Líder Espiritual Mapu Huni KuÎ e produtora cultural Mirna Rosário, que fica localizado na Transacreana, Km 36 , Ramal Goiabal via História Encantada, tem o intuito de realizar o Fortalecimento da Identidade Cultural do Povo Huni KuÎ, acolhendo as famílias que se deslocam da aldeia para melhores condições. O Centro trabalha com o apoio a jovens estudantes para que realizem seus estudos sem perder a identidade nativa e que possam retornar para suas aldeias; realizar o suporte de segurança alimentar através do seu roçado para atender as famílias; a preservação da espiritualidade através uso das medicinas sagradas, dos kenes, tronco linguístico, artesanatos, músicas, rezos, danças e cultura alimentar. Para os fundadores a importância de se manter a identidade cultural é deixar viva a memória e a luta da existência e resistência de anos. O nativo apropriado de seus valores tem empoderamento e assim consegue tornar seu povo mais autônomo e sua cultura sempre presente.

Objetivos:

Geral: Fortalecer a Identidade Cultural do Povo Huni Kuî Específicos:

• Estimular o aprendizado da linguagem Hãtxa Kuî;

• Promover a Segurança Alimentar através do roçado e frutíferas ;

• Fomentar a preservação ambiental com o cultivo de plantas nativas e defesa do meio ambiente;

• Manter os conhecimentos tradicionais de convivência nativa;

• Disseminar e fortalecer o conhecimento das medicinas sagradas através de vivências.

• Incentivar o grafismo dos kenes;

• Preservar a cultura alimentar nativa;

• Produzir artesanatos;

• Resgatar os conhecimentos da identidade cultural quando se fizer necessário;

• Possibilitar a conservação das danças, música/rezos;

Brief Biography of the Coordinator

Mapu Huni Kuî, born on December 13, 1988, Brazilian, native of the Indigenous Land (TI) Kaxinawa Ashaninka of Rio Breu, which lies between the municipalities of Marechal Thaumaturgo and Jordão, on the border with Peru. Project Summary

The Social Project of the Huwã Karu Yuxibu Center, was founded in August 2015, non-profitable and has as main objective to Strengthen the Cultural Identity of the Huni Kuî People. Among the main activities, the preservation of the Hutxa Kuî dialect, kenes, dances, music, prayers, handicrafts, environmental preservation and food security. The target audience are native families who are in social vulnerability and students who move from their villages to attend Universities, Colleges and Technical professional courses in the capital Rio Branco - Acre in the Western Brazilian Amazon. The project is coordinated by the Spiritual Leader and Chief Mapu Huni Kuí and has a technical administrative team, partners, supporters and volunteers. The aforementioned project is carried out in a private area acquired through Mapu Huni Kuî via donations, spiritual works and environmental awareness. The project currently assists 33 native families who are on the margins of society and residing in the capital Acreana.

Justification for the creation of the Huwã Karu Yuxibu Center

In Acre, the Indigenous Land (TI) Kaxinawá Ashaninka do Rio Breu, with 31,277 hectares, is located between the municipalities of Marechal Thaumaturgo and Jordão, on the border with Peru. According to the study by the organization Instituto Socioambiental (ISA), the Huni Kuin Indians, also known as Kaxinawá, inhabit the Brazilian-Peruvian border in the western Amazon. In Brazil, they add up to 7,535 more people and live in Acre and southern Amazonas, with villages in the regions of Alto Juruá and Purus and in Vale do Javari. The Huni Kuin belong to the Pano linguistic stem. The Pano groups designated as Nawa form a subgroup of this family because they have very close languages and cultures and because they have been neighbors for a long time. Each of them calls himself huni kuin, “real men”, says the research. Due to the demographic location of the IT, which hinders access to education, health resources, health, climate change, deforestation, river droughts and several factors that make hunting, fishing and planting impossible, many natives move, often abandon their land in the middle of the forest to go to the city in search of improvement and access to resources that meet their needs. In this search for change and assistance in their emergencies, many find a different scenario when they arrive in the city where they are on the margins of society. These situations make them susceptible to prejudice, without access to food, education, health and thus they reach a state of extreme poverty /misery. By the initiative of coming to the city with the desire to improve their conditions of survival and to meet their needs, they become in the perspective of unhealthy Indian governmental spheres, and are not assisted by public policies directed at indigenous people because they are not in the forest. As a result, they are left unattended by the system, living on the outskirts of the city, asking for money on the street to maintain their basic needs, sometimes becoming cheap or slave labor, and when they cannot find jobs, some enter the world of crime, prostitution and narcotics, in addition to illnesses through contacts with the Nawas. With so many difficulties faced in the city and not being able to return to the village, they lose their dialect, traditional habits. Since they are often marginalized, they suffer from prejudices for being native, they leave all the greatness of their culture. Many young people are losing their identity, prospects for improvement and awareness in the struggle for the resistance and existence of their people. For these reasons, among others, the Huwã Karu Yuxibu Center founded in August 2015 by Cacique and Spiritual Leader Mapu Huni KuÎ and cultural producer Mirna Rosário, which is located at Transacreana, Km 36, Ramal Goiabal via Enchanted History, has the intention of strengthening the Huni KuÎ People's Cultural Identity, welcoming families who move from the village to better conditions. The Center works with support for young students to carry out their studies without losing their native identity and to return to their villages; carry out food security support through their gardens to serve families; the preservation of spirituality through the use of medicine.
