I was asked by numerous work colleagues if I could start a collection. However because we are all spread out over the country I thought this would be the most appropriate way to do that.
As you may know our close friend and colleague PAUL Lindo has died after a major fight with a long illness - Cancer. He has on occasions thought he had beaten it but more recently it has come back and had the last laugh, but I am sure its only in this world because Paul will be looking down and kicking the hell out of it. Paul's last communication read:-
15/07/19 Paul Lindo.
Hi folks, here we are again, transplant day or to be correct Car T Cell.ucart19infusion. Posh eh?
I would love to take this opportunity to thank you all for your positivity, bad jokes(not sure where you get them from and you should be ashamed of your self anyway sending a sick man that type of material)but also just being there as part of the team and getting me to this point, particularly thanks to Val who has had to walk this path with me without complaining and had to let me watch loose woman with her,I don’t have a bouquet to give her but she will always be my little petal.thanks to the staff here who have worked hard to ensure that I don’t have any high fevers even down to the fact that they sit down with me and discuss what food I am eating, yesterday nurse mercy (think what you like about her name its true) asked me what I was going to order for dinner I told some type of Indian meal, that might not be wise at the time mercy replied,a woman along the corridor who has had a Car T cell transplant was eating a Indian meal last night and collapsed, wow I replied is she ok?not sure Mercy said she is still in a Korma.
But everything is ready to go,I am fit,Val is up for it,Lee has watered the plants, let’s do it.The team have told Val and I that may be quite poorly over the next few days in fact they hope I am because thats is a sign that everything is working and it gives them something to do,last night was a bit of long night I stayed up all night wondering were the sun went then it dawned.
Most of you probably don’t know this but our mam Sheila worked as a Radiologist she met dad when he came in for a X-ray, I wondered what she saw in him.
Right that’s it I am off, love you all, onwards and upwards as always.
All money raised will go towards Paul's wife Val. Thank You for visiting this site
