Raising funds for myself Michelle for Cochlear Implants

My name is Michelle I am 50 years old and I have Meniere's Disease, it causes deafness in the ears and vertigo symptoms. There is no cure or definitive reason that can explain what causes this disease but mine were triggered by pregnancy. I have 3 children and only found out recently that I have this disease as I was misdiagnosed by GP's. They kept saying I have middle ear infection which is causing the fluid in the ears and dizzy spells, which was actually vertigo. Vertigo is a symptom of Meniere’s Disease.

I have lost my ability to hear in my right ear and only have approximately 30% hearing in my left ear. Also being a sinus sufferer makes it even more challenging when my ear is blocked with mucus, This makes it extremely difficult to hear out of the only ear that still has partial hearing.

The only way to remedy my hearing loss is to have a Cochlear implant. I unfortunately am not in a financial position to be on a medical aid and don’t have R350 000 to pay cash per ear for the operation. I need to raise funds for Cochlear Implants starting with the right ear. There would a penalty period of one year that I would need to wait before having the operation as I have not been on a medical aid for more than 12 years.

I cant wait for the Government to assist as they are giving preference to children and I am truly happy that they get preference, but that doesn't help me. I still have 15 years before I am at an age that I can retire and sorry to say but I am not ready to give up on my ears and be deaf when there is something that can be done.
