Raising For Haiti

“…For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in. “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ (Matthew 25:35, 40)

The primary mission of the Fundación Camino de Emaus, Inc. (The Emmaus Road Foundation. Inc.) is to accompany the people in the process of education, organization and social mobilization against corruption, poverty, social inequality and social conflict in the Dominican Republic. Moreover, as a charity that seeks to educate and bring about social change, we reject all kinds of unjust hate crimes, racism, xenophobia and anti-immigrant growth between Dominican and Haitian communities in New York City and throughout the Dominican Republic, more specifically at the Dominican-Haitian border. We employ pastoral care that includes educational and informative dimensions that promotes a cultural and spiritual dialogue between these two communities aimed at adopting an understanding of human rights and solidarity between them. We follow the same model of empowerment provided by Jesus in his ministry of accompaniment which was established on the Road to Emmaus (Luke 24, 13-35): You have to walk alongside the people, not in front, not behind.
