RAISING AWARENESS ABOUT ABUSE

As a graphic designer, I always wonder how I can use my skills to impact the world. The world is filled with misunderstanding, and a tremendous lack of awareness. I would like to create a campaign to raise awareness about the devasting rates of abuse. In America alone, 5 children die every day as victims of abuse, and 1 out of 3 girls and 1 out of 5 boys will be sexually abused before they reach age 18. How can we, as a worldwide community, let that pass unnoticed? As someone who has witnessed firsthand the effects of abuse, I would like to do something. I would like to use my skills as a graphic designer to bring awareness, to create campaigns that will speak to people, and inspire us as a worldwide community to act, and bring a stop to the abuse, so we can lower these devastating statistics.

HOW I WILL USE THE MONEY

I would like to use the money from this fundraiser, to achieve my goals of raising awareness. The way I would like to go about doing so, is by going back to school and focusing on advertising, my major of choice. In our world, advertisers make all the difference. They influence the way we think, the way we dress, and most importantly, what we act upon. During university, I would like to continue raising awareness, be it on social networks, through infomercials, and with any medium that I can get through to people worldwide.

WHY I NEED YOUR HELP

When a person decides to create a movement, it can't be a one person movement. A movement is comprised of a community of like minded individuals with one clear goal in mind that unites them. I need YOU to help me raise awareness, and to try, as much as we can, to bring down those horrifying statistics in child abuse, sexual abuse, and neglect. I would like you, as my sponsor, to assist me in raising awareness through my advertisements and infomercials I will create while in school, and even before school, to raise awareness.

MY GOAL

My goal in creating this campaign is to bring awareness to people about the horrors of abuse, specifically child abuse and sexual abuse, which can often happen at the same time. I would like to shed light on what children go through every day. Day in, day out, these children suffer unspeakable abuse, and unfortunately a large portion of it is emotional, which doesn't leave visible scars, but they leave scars running just as deep, and deeper, than physical abuse. I believe that you don't have to be a celebrity to influence people to do what is right, and raise awareness. So come join me, and help me create awareness, and let's make the world a safer place for adults and children alike, together as a worldwide united community.
