November 2012 was the start of the most traumatic time in my family's life. The youngest member of our family, just 8 months young, was rushed to hospital with meningitis. Within a few hours we were told that he had developed Meningococcal Septicaemia and was being transferred to Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) and we were all told to prepare for the news that no family wants to hear. Fearing the worst, Christenings and even a Wedding took place at the baby's bedside, with the parents not wanting to risk their first born missing their wedding.
The whole experience sent shock waves through our family, and we were lucky to not only have each other, but also a great network of friends on which we could lean. Great strength was to be found, and this strength somehow found it's way to the strongest member of the family.
Despite numerous major surgeries in which lower limbs and a hand were amputated, the young one kept fighting, refusing to give up.
Christmas came and went at GOSH (along with a handful of professional footballers who stopped by to show their support) but the fight never left. It has now been 12 weeks since the little guy was rushed to GOSH and there is finally hope that he may be able to return home soon. This will signal the start of an extremely long recovery process, which will see weekly out patient visits to specialist hospitals in London and the possibility of further surgeries in the future. There is still uncertainty in regards to the little guy's brain function and sight, but the fact of the matter is.. we still have him in the family, and that is all that matters to us.
It is still a subject that we find hard to talk about, but with the prospect of returning home soon, we are hoping to partake in some fundraising to ensure that he has the resources at his disposal for as good a recovery as possible.
I have set a fairly moderate goal of £800, however I would love to be able to raise more in order to secure a future for the little guy, as well as to raise as much awareness about the condition he contracted.

We would like to Thank everyone who has been there to support our family, including everyone at Great Ormond Street Hospital for their continued support and life saving work.

Any donations would be put towards a fund in the little guys names and used solely for the purposes of medical care and it's associated costs.

Please get donating and put a smile on his little face and the rest of the familys, as they havent had alot to smile about latel. Even donating £5 would be a massive help with even petrol costs for when he gets the all clear to come home knowing that the travel home would be covered for.
