About The Bandipur Children’s Home

The Bandipur Children’s Home was founded 10 years ago out of the dream of one Nepali couple and one Canadian couple who had a heart for disadvantaged children in Nepal.

the Home is now a family with 13 beautiful children between the ages of 9 and 15. They came from heartbreaking situations, were orphaned or abandoned, and faced hard labor, beatings, and malnutrition. With the support of Canadian donors, they are emerging into confident, well-educated young leaders with the opportunity to give back to their communities.

Women in Nepal especially face a myriad of difficulties. Without any intervention, they are often subject to domestic violence and treated as household slaves. Sadly, sex trafficking and child marriage is also all too common, and we are working with all our strength to help young girls avoid this reality.

Raising the Roof

The children are growing, but the home isn’t! Our current capacity for girls is full. As we speak, the home is having to turn away young girls who desperately need a community such as the Bandipur Children’s home. We want to take every opportunity possible to welcome young ladies into the home, to help them change their lives and give them the best chance possible for a strong future. So our main goal for 2018 is simple: we need to raise the roof!

Currently, all five of our girls are sleeping in a small room that’s not much bigger than a child’s bedroom in Canada, and they each have only one dresser drawer in which to stuff all their belongings. Some of them store their extra personal items on their beds and sleep beside their small pile of their possessions.

The local government in Nepal sees the issue as well, and they have given the home a deadline to construct a larger room for our girls, which requires that construction begin as soon as possible. The plan is to add top floor to the house, with a big room and a seperate bathroom. Not only will this room give the girls the space they deserve, it will also allow us to add four more beds and accept a few more girls who desperately need a fresh start in life.

Now here is where you come in! Can you help us RAISE THE ROOF? We need to get this project underway as soon as possible so the girls can be all moved in before the winter starts.

We need to raise $25,000 to purchase building materials, cover labor costs, and make sure the room is properly finished and painted before the girls move in. Every contribution counts towards reaching our goal.
