Ismael Linicius Kavela, was a consultant seabird by-catch mitigation instructor (Marine Conservationist) from November 2017 until February 2020. He collected valuable seabird by-catch mortality, compliance and enforcement data while spreading the message of seabird conservation on trawl and longline vessels in Namibias fishing industry. His work is part of reason that ATF Namibia has had a huge success in the reduction of seabird by-catch mortality in the Namibian fishery and consequently had data for a scientific publication about "the reduction in seabird by-catch mortality" currently under peer review .
Due to short illness Ismael passed on, on Sunday ,14 June 2020 in his home town of Omaruru, central Namibia, aged 42.
As a token of appreciation to his dedication and contributions to the conservation of seabirds, We are hereby pleading to all good Samaritans and conservationists, to assist the Kavela family during this mourning period and funeral proceedings, please help raise at least 5000 Namibian dollars (about 300 USD).
