Financial Support for Rafe D’Aquino’s Family

As many of you will be aware already, our wonderful, dear friend Rafe D’Aquino passed away suddenly on the morning of Wednesday 13^th May 2020. I know many people are still in shock, heartbroken and struggling to come to terms with what has happened.

Rafe was such a special person. Kind, caring, laid-back, always upbeat – and always hungry! A talented musician, and an amazing playing companion for his kids, and for ours as well. A ‘big kid’ in many ways, and also a wonderfully supportive husband and father, who would do anything for his girls. Alexa is 7, and Lia has just turned 4.

We have been touched to receive so many calls, emails and messages from people offering support, and asking how they can help. We decided to set up this page to keep people up-to-date with plans, and to provide a way for people to contribute to providing some more practical support for Kasia, Alexa and Lia in the near future, in addition to that provided by their families, as they face inevitable financial uncertainty now that they do not have Rafe’s income to pay for their rent and other daily expenses.

Rafe and Kasia just renewed the lease on their home in Lamma last month, where they have lived together for the past 9 years. Our first target is to raise enough money to provide them the security of knowing that they will be able to stay where they are for the duration of the year, and keep their daily routine as normal as possible for the kids in the short term. This will give them the time and space to start to grieve and figure out how to move forward in the wake of their loss, without the added stress of a sudden move out of their home.

We would like to ask for anyone who would like to help and can afford it, to donate using this page. This can also simply be a space for messages of support that the family can read.

It breaks our hearts to know that we can’t bring Rafe back. But we can make a promise to him that we will all help look after Kasia, Alexa and Lia. Thank you so much for all your messages and things you have done for the family already. It would make him so happy to know that they have so much support.
