Recently, Philippines was hit by a series of typhoons which left the country with dozens dead and million of individuals and families displaced. With the current situation in the Philippines, we sympathise with our fellows who are facing such challenging times. With this in mind, Race2Share is hosting a fundraising campaign where we will attempt to complete 1000 miles as a team from December 6 to 20, 2020 to raise funds and support families who have been affected by the recent typhoon in the Philippines.

Our Beneficiaries: Families affected in Montalban, Rizal, Philippines.

  • ➡️ 250 families from Sitios Kayrupa and Karugo communities

Kayrupa has the worst living condition sitio (local community). Families have washed out homes. Most have had houses made out of light material. They are in need of food, kitchen and dining materials, electricity and cleaning materials. The flood rose above the length of a one story house. During the typhoon, they have had to stay in the mountains for a couple of days. Weren't able to save anything.

  • ➡️ 250 families from Casili and Anipa communities.

Out of 250 families, only 25 families are Dumagats but the rest are Aeta communities to receive relief drives and hot meal stations. Needs are mainly electricity, food, cleaning materials and livelihood.

Our Partner: One For Montalban Movement which consists of the following organisations:

  • 🇵🇭 Action for Resilient Communities Inc. (my group, group of young professionals on disaster risk reduction and management)
  • 🇵🇭 Keeping Hope Alive (Montalban based youth who have been doing relief response since the pandemic)
  • 🇵🇭 Thomasian Alumni Leaders Association (an alumni organization of all student leaders of the University of Santo Tomas)
  • 🇵🇭 Montalban Riders Club

Work will be coordinated between One for Montalban movement and Local Government Unit of Montalban, Rizal and Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office of Montalban Rizal.

Your contributions will go to the immediate relief efforts provided by our partner organisation. While this support will cover the short term needs of the community, we hope this will pave way to the families' recovery. We invite you to join us in this journey by supporting our cause. Every mile we complete signifies a meaningful amount of hope for individuals and families who are looking to restart their lives.

We look forward to your support and contribution!
