My son is 20 years old, Quade is an amazing young man that has already faced so many health obstacles but remains the light of our family radiating positivity everywhere he goes.

He has had medical challenges since the age of 10 such as:

-a polyp which was removed

-a laparotomy which removed 10 cm of his colon

-Inflammation in the gut

-Countless colonoscopies

-Periodic fatigue, pain and cramps with nausea (ongoing for almost 10 years)

We have seen Dr Bebbington at Donald Gordon hospital. He has referred my son to do gene panel which is a test that analyses multiple genes at once for cancer-associated mutations. On 25 November 2019 we are told at the Charlotte Maxeke Hospital that the blood works will go to San Francisco for testing.

Once the results from the gene panel comes back - Dr Bebbington will need to remove the polyp which is causing the pain and discomfort. My child’s quality of life is negatively affected by this undiagnosed illness, He also suffers with chronic asthma which we try to manage, this is a huge financial strain on us.

We have been blessed with some of the best doctors who have wavered their consultation fees and one doctor going as far as doing the last tests for free , some of the Doctors that we have seeing have been giving us discounts but the medical bills keep piling up and unfortunately we cannot keep up.

We are not in the position to pay for the mounting medical costs. We stay in Nelspruit and need to travel to Johannesburg for all appointments.

Next year December my baby will turn 21 and I am hopeful that he will be on a journey to recovery so that he can start living life to his full potential. My son has a heart to help people. He wants to study to be a paramedic. He is very talented in dance and very creative. He loves to keep fit and trains when his able. He is a strong spiritual young man who is hungry for God’s presence.

I hope that my sons story speak to your heart as any donations will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Leighton (Dad) Cindy (Mom) Smith
