The Warriors Boys' Soccer Team from Queen Elizabeth District High School in Sioux Lookout, Ontario has earned a chance to represent NWOSSAA (Northwest Ontario Secondary School Athletics Association) in the OFSAA Soccer Championships being held in Windsor, Ontario from May 31-June 3. This means that the boys' will be playing the best in the province! Unfortunately, Windsor is very far from Sioux Lookout (21 hours and 48 minutes to drive, 2093 kms away). Our travel will require us to get to Thunder Bay by vehicle, and then travel 17 hrs from Thunder Bay to Windsor...and back. The boys have pushed very hard to get this opportunity by first earning gold by defeating TA in the NORWOSSA Championships and then earning NWOSSAA gold by defeating Marathon (in Marathon) today. The OFSAA experience is especially important to this team because of its current members, which includes two refugee students and a current exchange student from Italy. In addition, there are 4 sets of siblings (which means double the cost for those families). With the combination of limited time and continued increases in travel costs, the team needs your help! Any contribution- no matter what the amount- will help to reduce the cost per athlete and will help make this adventure a reality. Our target of $8000 will cover approximately half of the total costs. OFSAA is a once in a lifetime experience for the student-athlete and your gift will help make it happen!
