My name is Jon Mcqueen and I am a Journalist based in the United Kingdom.

Pushpa Shreshta is a dear friend and colleague.

She needs our help and just sent me this note asking me to create a fundraiser for her.

Note:

I am an Independent female Nepalese journalist from the U.K who decided to stay back in Kathmandu after the devastating quakes gave way to heaps of rubble and destruction.I have been on voluntary assignment and stationed in Kathmandu since January 2014.

When the quake broke out, I was walking past the iconic Durbar Square area when the entire world around me began to rattle. We literally saw the world in front of us crumble and fall.

I eventually found myself taking to the streets to help in which ever way I could, I used up a considerable amount of savings in ground and street work in the Boudanath Area (Largely inhabited by Tibetans) and the surrounding settlements.

Food and Drinking water was being delivered to them directly in moderate quantities via road and via volunteers-the operation of which I managed successfully - until a few days ago when most of what I had built in terms of bringing together people and bringing alive their lost will to live, came crumbling down. Another Quake.Another Rattle.Terrifying.

I am on the ground and working with people who now give me the will to go on and to fight and to stay. I will not leave Kathmandu until I am sure that the families I am working with right now are in a position to take care of themselves. My mother and half-sister are the only family I have in Nepal,They originally hail from the remote district of Khumbu cannot be traced.I intend moving to the town of Lukla once I am better to search for them.

Your financial assistance will be used to build basic infrastructure inside homes that have been absolutely devastated by the quake.Almost every home that I have visited since then has at least a few gaping cracks that could come apart with the smallest of aftershocks.Besides this,I am also volunteering at the local/makeshift/mobile hospital vans that are stationed across Boudha and it’s surrounding areas.

Most people inside Nepal today sleep with fear on their minds.

I need your help to take me through till the point from where I begin to see light in the darkness, this light I know will come from within eventually - but your help will go a long way getting me there.

Thank You and Namaste.

In gratitude

Pushpa Shreshta
