23 MILLION PEOPLE IN TANZANIA DON'T HAVE ACCESS TO CLEAN DRINKING WATER
We can do something about that.
The Purify Project is a group of concerned citizens -- just like you -- who are working to help provide the most basic necessities of life for the people of Tanzania, Africa, and around the world – like clean drinking water.
An ongoing problem for school children in Tanzania is stomach illness caused by contaminated drinking water that comes from various sources -- including surface runoff, municipal pipe systems, rainwater harvesting and wells. None of these water sources are filtered or treated in any way. The sickness experienced in the schools is seasonal, coinciding with local rainy seasons. Runoff after a rain event picks up any surface contamination on the ground including pieces of vegetation and human and animal waste.
