FETCH has a very sick puppy named Sanford. He and his siblings were just rescued from the pound on April 2, 2013, and yesterday, April5, 2012 Sanford suddenly became quite ill. I noticed the change in his behavior went from normal at noon, to not good at all at 1:15. He was having trouble breathing, panting heavily, drooling profusely. I took his temperature and it was elevated. I looked in his mouth and kknew instantly that this was serious, as his gums were pale grey/near white. I then rushed over to emergency asap. His condition was extremely critical. Upon x-ray the vet discovered that Sanford had aspirated on his own vomit with the result being "aspiration pneumonia" and she said she honestly didn't know if he was going to make it, as it was quite severe. He is currently at Wilson Veterinary Hospital and is on oxygen, IV fluids and antibiotics, and recieiving breathing treatments as needed. His condition is considered touch and go. I do not have a total cost for his expenses, as we do not know how long he will be hospitalized, nor do we know what the follow up expenses will be. The estimate I was shown indicates a "low to high". It was $900 for the low estimate, $1500 for the high. Please help if you can.

Spoke with the day manager a little bit ago, and they said he did okay off of his oxygen for a little bit today. No breathing treatments needed since last night. Still on IV therapy and will keep him closely monitored, but they said the fact that he did okay off of the oxygen and is eating a little bit indicates he will make it! They had said the first three days were the most critical, so looking good.!! Thank you for all the well wishes!

The doctor said they will try at some point today to see if he can tolerate a very, very short time off of the oxygen. As of last night, he was needing breathing treatments in addition to the oxygen, so I think that is a positive sign!
