We are seeking funds for a remembrance march and ceremony to honor the lives of those lost in the Pulse tragedy. This includes the stage and sound equipment to give the environment of a solemn event and ceremony.

On June 12th, 2016 the lives of 49 souls were cut short in The Pulse Nightclub of Orlando, Florida from a deadly shooting. In memory of those 49 lives, and in an act of defiance to the fear and terror our community felt that night; queer members of the Hampton Roads community and their allies will march the streets to demand visibility and recognition of our pain and suffering, and ask the entire Hampton Roads Community to grieve and create a space for all of us to feel welcomed, heard, and seen.

A half a mile march will begin at 7:30PM, replicating the distance from The Pulse nightclub to Orlando Health. We will be led in a reading of the names, as well as hear words of power from Queer youth who have been affected the most, and what they seek from our community to improve the climate for Queer People and Queer People of Color. After this we will release flowers into the Elizabeth River, not as a sign of forgetting the past, but of letting go of the dark feelings we felt that night and committing to a better and more beautiful future for our whole community.

We are in need of support to help fund the elements that make-up this ceremony. Which includes: the stage, sound system, generator, insurance, banner and sign supplies, and more.

Any amounts would be appreciated. Please help us show that The Hampton Roads Queer Community Sees and Hears Orlando.
