Campaign Story
The project will take place on an island off the coast of West Malaysia, and it involves building a rainwater harvesting and filtration system that will collect rainwater during the monsoon season and store it for late use. There is also a part of the project that will work on building a committee that will be dedicated on acquiring water from cheaper and more sustainable sources, as well as to clear trash and plastic waste from the beaches and the ocean and raise environmental awareness among the residents.
Currently, the residents buy water from the most accessible source nearby, which is quite expensive and is sold in plastic bottles, which are then littered across the island and in the ocean.
The purpose of the money being raised is to build a boat that will allow the residents of the island to commute to and from the mainland and other more populated and developed islands nearby in order to acquire water when the rainwater harvested runs out. This will reduce the day to day costs of the residents, reduce plastic waste, and improve the sustainability of the island.
