Providing water for Healing Word Crèche

Access to clean and running water is the most basic of human rights . In this time of COVID 19 it has become even more amplified as a basic tool to keep safe and disease free . The apparently simple task of washing ones hands is a luxury not afforded to so many in our country .

This access is the most fundamental and pivotable part of our nation’s plan for our children’s return to school .The smallest of our children (0-6 yrs )are the most vulnerable and a huge percentage of them attend ECD centers in the informal settlements where they have to walk around 300 m to a central water point and carry all the water they need . Every drop of water must be carried .

Early in lockdown I read about Patience whose Créche called Healing Word in the Zandspruit Informal Settlement burnt down and what I noticed the most was how dry the whole area was and how there was no access to water . I went to visit and found they have one Jojo tank and one bank of broken taps with a blocked drain that is used for 600 people

I have decided to try and fundraise to provide the crèche with a Jojo tank that Patience can fill up with a hose and have water in her yard to help the children with basic sanitation and hand washing (and potentially use in the case of another fire ) and another jojo tank in the Zandspruit area for the rest of the community.

Please will your assist me with my crowdfunding campaign to raise R20 000 to do this . I will provide constant feedback on my page and any extra I raise I will use towards other water delivery projects in this area .
