LET'S SUPPORT HARD WORKING PEOPLE THAT WANT TO WORK!!!

I am a college graduate from Arizona State University's class of 1990, who cannot find a job. Just got a email Sunday, June 12th at 5:05 pm letting me know I am no longer employed. As the sole bread winner in my household I am devastated and afraid.

Hard work is not something that is new to me. My father set a good example. He work three jobs to put six children through private schools. Many times I worked from 6:30 in the morning to 7:00 at night.

I have a 19 year old son in college. The most important message I give to my son is to let him know we don't have the right to deprive the world of what we can offer. Hard work is a huge factor. With that being said, in his freshmen year of high school he earned a academic scholarship to go Arizona State University Barrett Honor's College. He worked in an after school program mentoring grade school kids in mathematics and computer science. He played football and basketball and excelled in both. The only reason he did not play more is because I could not afford it. But when he did his coach said at the awards ceremony. "I have got to thank you for this one".

If we can't provide for gifted young people, we all lose. Unfortunately, because of our financial situation, I am unable to put my son in the arena where he can have the peace of mind to focus on his studies. It would be a shame if we all cannot cultivate the talent he has and so many others like him.

I never thought I would be on a social media site (don't really use Facebook or Twitter) asking for help and letting others know my personal hardships. I have always been a very private person.

I am not asking for anyone to support the choices we make. I am asking for help to make it through the month of July and find my way to support this young man.

Poverty can be very destructive when you lose hope and faith. I know the future will be better.
