Hello. I am trying to become a Drug and Alcohol Counselor. Please stop read and contemplate. This is a deadly disease that can be cured.

I am a recovered Alcoholic that has been Sober since July 9, 2008. My dream is to return to college and receive my doctrine in helping those who suffer from drug and alcohol addictions. I have been there. It nearly killed me more then once. Plus it distroyed my relationships. I have learned to over come it. Now please HELP ME! HELP OTHERS!

I am a single mother of 2 beautiful daughters. I was raised in a home with 2 very loving parents. But Alcholism was present in my home. Watching this being used as a self medicating type of tool. I too developed the disease of Alcholism at 24 years of age. I at first enjoyed drinking. But as time progressed. The relationship I had with my first daughters father failed. Alcholism became a uncontrollable evil in my life. I was crushed feeling ashamed of having a child out of wedlock.

When I met my exhusband I was in rebound mode, he was also a alcoholic. I found comfort in him too being a alcoholic. I thought we can drink together. He can marry me. I won't look like a whore with a baby and not being married . I look back at it now and think wow. What a fool I was.

We did marry. I became pregnant. Eva was a product of our union. But with the Alcholism running rampant in our home. Our marriage fell apart. Divorce was filed and finalized in 2006.

Eva is such a blessing in my life. At 3 years old Eva had her 1st seizure. Of many. Seeing my child almost die, led me to the realization my daughter is a gift from God. That can be taken away just as quickly she was given. I promised God. I would quit drinking if he let Eva live. I have been sober since July 9th, 2008.

I want to return to collage this spring to become a Drug and Alcohol Councelor. I want to help other people not make the same mistakes I made. Not only did Alcholism affect my relationships. But Alcholism nearly killed me. At 27 years old. I developed Pancreatitis. Even now being sober for years. The pancreas is too damaged. In May of 2014 I had the Whipple Procedure. 3/4 of my pancreas was removed. Trying to prolong my life. I don't know how many more years I may have. But the years I'm granted. I want to keep my children safe. Love them to the fullest. Then help everyone I can to stop the cycle of addiction. I am now in court trying to get supervised visitation for Eva, while she with her father during his visitation. But it's so expensive. I am now forced to ask you for help. I promise to do all I can to help others when all is said and done.

I have already taken out a $4500.00 bank loan court has gobbled it up. Because of my income they will not allow me another. I still have to pay this back then come up with at least another $5,000.00 to $10,000.We need your help. 1st off for court. Then for College. College costs have sky rocketed. But I believe all things are possible with Love.

Thank you for your time to read. Sincerely, Kimberly Brennan

  • I will give more as I receive more myself. I know what you feel in this circumstance. The value of our love is so much greater than what money can buy, and the affect of such callous thinking on our children is something they have to overcome in their lives well into their later years. Keep your chin and spirit up! I know that something extraordinary is forming from this challenge. Find strength in the little victories to give you courage to face the bigger picture. "Fighting!" as South Koreans like to say.

We're praying and hoping. You will be able to find it in your hearts to help us. It seems funny that no longer love is enough to keep a child where she wants to be. Please don't let money win this battle. My ex-husband makes $10,000.00 a month plus. So

  • Thank You So much Sis. I love you so much. You actually made me cry. But in a positive fashion. It’s been so long since I’ve cried tears of joy. It’s discouraging sometimes asking for help and putting every bit of my soul into it. Only to have people pass me by. I’m so thankful. Love you.
