This is Miracle a Belgian Malinois given to me and both of his hind legs bones' are not cconnected at the pelvic bone socket but he is mobile however he cannot bend his legs. His toes and legs are not properly protected resulting to injuries of scrapes and scratches.
He has sensation and can wiggle the toes but cannot bend the joints. When he was 2 months old I took him to the local Vet in Cebu and got his x-ray. I was first warned of the breed and I was told that he is the active and high energy type which I should be able to meet his needs including exercises. Second, should not gain too much weight so he will not have a hard time carrying himself and managing to walk and do other activities. When I consulted the Vet at that time, he suggested a possible constructive surgery which more likely may start from 150,000 Pesos and told that it is not really done here in the Philippines and the closest country that may facilitate the surgery is Singapore (I have not further researched yet). From the pages I saw in the social media, I have seen dogs with similar situations as Miracle and one of them was Molly the Golden Retriever. She had prosthetics for protection of her hind legs and I was lucky to be able to contact the specialist who made it Mr. Derrick Campana and was told the estimated cost may start from $600 to $1000 each per leg.
I am knocking in your kind hearts to help me achieve this support and prosthetics for Miracle so he can feel better and move more freely.
Surgery will really be costly and for 9 months now, I have been waiting to start with my new work. There has been a delay but nevertheless will be starting soon. The expense for the special prosthetics is a lot for me now.
I was only to foster Miracle for a while until the couple who adopted him will find a new home that will not restrict them for having him so I clarified the time frame but was given the response that I can keep Miracle. I accepted and fell in love with him. He is full of life and I want Miracle to enjoy his more as he grows older and bigger. I have had my challenges with a permanent employment but things are looking up. A little helping hand will go a long way for Miracle.
Miracle is turning 1 year old on August 2, 2017. He has grown to be a loving, sweet, and active Belgian Malinois but due to his disability since birth his hind legs does not function normally. He cannot bend the hind legs but he manages to walk, run, and move around. However, without the right support and protection, Miracle is slowly getting injuries on his toes and legs as he drags it or when he suddenly stops to take a break. He is a high-spirited dog and you know that he wants to live and enjoy life.
When you see Miracle, he is full of life, he was given to me when he was 2 months old and since then he has shown the whole family his loyalty and love.
