Prostate Cancer – Raising Awareness
Fundraising campaign by
John Wall
-
€6,450.00raised of €4,500.00 goal goal
My name is John Wall from Quin, Co Clare and this is our story.....
On July 25th this year, our world was rocked by the news that I had Prostate Cancer which had also spread to the lymph nodes. During the last several weeks my wife, along with my 3 children and I, have been trying to come to terms with the path that lies ahead for all of us.
My chemotherapy begins tomorrow & all going well, my hope is to have surgery when complete, followed by radiotherapy thereafter.
I am only 46 years old & am told that it is extremely unusual for this age group to present with an aggressive form of prostate cancer with which I have been diagnosed.
My aim is to ensure that no man suffers uneccessarily. A simple blood test can detect a possible prostate problem. Monies raised will assist not only the medics & volunteers that are currently helping me, but also raise some much needed funds for both cancer research & The Oncology Unit at Limerick Regional Hospital.
I will also be dying my hair blue as part of my raising awareness campaign. As it's going to fall out anyhow, what have I got to lose!
Thanks for your support,
John.
