We are in need of donations to help cushion the blow of a $5,000 emergency surgery for our sweet dog, Prosser. Prosser jumped off of our bed one night, like he has done a thousand times before. The only difference was he never came back upstairs to snuggle with us. My husband found him sitting limp in the living room 3 hours later. He never barked or whimpered to let us know something was wrong. When my husband tried to pick him up to carry him upstairs he let out a horrible scream and we knew we had to get him to the vet right away. The vet took one look at him and told us that he was sure Prosser had a spinal cord injury. At this point Prosser was struggling to stand and was loosing motor control to his back legs, he was wabbling and weaving all over. Prosser is like my baby and has given me such joy. He has kept me company through my husbands deployments and the thought of loosing him after three and a half years together was enough to make me break down in the vet's office. Our family vet immediately sent us out the door on our way to a specialist 25 miles away. Of course when it rains it pours and we found our car leaking away in the vet's parking lot! Oh well, our puppy boy was more important. At the neurologists our fears were confirmed, Prosser had completely hernieated 3 discs and they were putting pressure on his spine. The specialist told us that without treatment the spine would quit receiving blood flow and Prosser would be paralyzed. It was surgery or putting our Prossey Boy down. It is a horrible feeling to have money be a huge factor in making such an emotional decision. We decided that Prosser helped make our lives special and we couldn't imagine living without him. So surgery it was. He is now recovering slowly, but is expected to have a return of function to his back legs!

My husband and I don't expect much, but ANYTHING would help us pay this $5,000 vet bill. We are both full time students and with virtually no expendable income. We have tried to live responsibly but we never saw this coming. Any thoughts, prayers, and if you are able, monetary donations would be a complete blessing to us.
