Let's start with Sarah. She is 19 and in her second year of college. Growing up, Sarah was not handed a silver spoon. She got her first job at 16 and remained there until she went to Gainesville. She is a young lady that has had to overcome much. She has done so with joy and determination.

The story: I am Sarah's mom. Sarah works full-time while going to school full-time. As most know, she does not make enough money to get by on her income alone. She works hard and is smart with her money, but I help share the burden of her bills. I am single and don't have much myself. Her success, however, has been my focus as well as hers.

I recently experienced what every single woman fears. I went out on a date with a man that I met online. We didn't have much in common, and something about him made me uncomfortable. So, when he called for a second date, I turned him down. That should have been the end of it. It wasn't. He did not take my rejection kindly. He began stalking me. He called me day after day. One day I counted 43 calls. He sent texts begging me to please give him another chance. He used different phone numbers when I would block him.

After several weeks of this harassment I got a knock on the door. I opened it to find him standing there. He was nice and apologetic until I told him that I still didn't want to see him. He became aggressive. I called the police. He was gone by the time they got there (an hour after my first call). I was scared out of my mind. But I am a determined woman, and I was not going to let the guy keep me from living my life. I followed the officer's recommendation and got an injunction on him, but realized quickly that it was a piece of paper and would not stop him from coming near me.

I had two more encounters with him, once at a Walmart parking lot, where I was physically assaulted, and again one week ago. This is where Sarah comes in. I had gone to Gainesville to pick up her car and her dog as she was going out of town. I'd planned to fix her breaks while she was gone. The next evening when I got home, he was sitting outside my apartment. He had a warrant for his arrest because of the prior assault, and he was incredible;y angry. He had a bat and was standing in front of my door. Knowing I couldn't get in the apartment, I got back in the car. I called 911, but he was bashing Sarah's car with the bat before someone answered the phone. He broke out the rear windshield and then picked up a concrete block and started scaping down the side, taunting me by telling me he was going. To kill me. I was finally able to drive off.

I met the police at the nearest fire station. They were able to find and arrest him shortly after the attack. I feel much safer now that I know he cannot hurt me again. Sarah's car was destroyed, though. I pay her car payment and insurance every month. The insurance company said that unfortunately, they don't cover this sort of thing and the repair shop told me it would be between $3000-$3500. I don't have much money in reserves, and Sarah has zero.

She lives in Gainesville, and I live in Jacksonville. She needs that car, and I am desperate to find a way to get it back to her. I know that there are many other campaigns out there and that our problem is small compared to the struggles of others, but Sarah does not deserve to be punished because this man did not know how to handle rejection. I have had no time to process what happened to me because I am worried about her.

Any contribution will be so appreciated. We need help. Please consider supporting Sarah and proving to her that there are good people in the world.
